Covington is a city in Newton County, Georgia. Its population as of 2012 is 13,347. The growth of population from 2000 is +15.6%. The city is the county seat of Newton County. It is thirty-five miles southeast of Atlanta.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.9 square miles (36 km2), of which 13.8 square miles (36 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (0.72%) is water.
